About Us

Our Mission
At Christmas in October, our mission is to rebuild houses, lives and neighborhoods in Kansas City
What We Do
Christmas in October provides critical repairs and safety modifications - free of charge - for our most vulnerable neighbors in need. This includes repairs such as wood rot repair, solving plumbing and electrical issues, and roof/gutter repairs, as well as tools and modifications that increase the accessibility of our neighbors' homes. These modifications include grab bars, railings, low-rise steps, wheelchair ramps, and more.

Our History
Founded in 1984, Christmas in October (CIO) harnesses the power of individuals to impact lives in Kansas City’s urban neighborhoods. It is the leading volunteer organization focused on rehabilitating the houses of low-income, older adult homeowners in the Kansas City area—at no cost to them. Christmas in October provides services year-round. Our programs facilitate healthy living, improve safety and mobility and provide more energy efficient homes. Christmas in October will build a wheelchair ramp for anyone who requests assistance, regardless of economic situation.
